Dr. Peter Sobotka

Co-CEO, Corinex Communications Corp

Dr. Peter Sobotka is an accomplished innovator in communications and information technology. In 1999, he founded Corinex Communications and quickly became the leading HomePlug PLC company in the world. His passion on developing Powerline communications has led to a series of industry firsts including the development of the first CE certified HomePlug product as well and its implementation over coax. He was also first to the market with the 200Mbps powerline equipment.
Dr. Sobotka is a former Board member and Chairman of the UPA Digital Home Standardization Committee, Chair of the HomeGrid Clean Tech Working Group, and a member of numerous professional and social associations. Dr. Sobotka has a Ph.D. from the University of Slovakia and was a hired researcher at Texas A&M, Tohoku University (Japan) and Delft Technical University (Netherlands). He has authored over 40 papers on applied and theoretical physics and a book sponsored by Cisco entitled Slovakia on the Threshold of Future (How to convert Slovakia to the next Taiwan or Ireland).

Dr. Sobotka has 4 children and enjoys hiking, skiing, climbing and tennis.

Chuck Filewych

Co-CEO Corinex Communications Corp

Mr. Filewych is known for his creative energy in growing business rapidly and creating new value for customers through leading edge innovations. He has generated over $1.8B in deals during his career, created new companies and been an advisor to Fortune 500 companies. Formally, Mr. Filewych was Managing Director for Accenture and grew the Western Canada business from 25 people to over 2500 in the past decade. He has extensive knowledge in technology architecture and large scale deployments of emerging technology. Additionally has worked closely with utilities across the globe in all aspects of their value chain. He has taken leadership in developing the technical and business frameworks for the smart microgrid.

Mr. Filewych is committed to community development and the arts and has played many leadership roles including being a member of the board with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He is committed to developing a robust business community to support clean technologies.
Mr. Filewych holds a Bachelor of Management (Honours) with the School of Management, University of Lethbridge.

Mr. Filewych is married with two children.

Norbert Benko

General Manager Europe & Senior VP

Norbert Benko is the General Manager for Corinex’ European operations, including offices in Belgium, Slovakia, Germany, Sweden, and the UK. He has been with Corinex for 5 years and is one of the first employees of the company. Prior to joining Corinex Europe, Mr. Benko spent 12 years in Australia managing numerous national projects in the telecommunications space.

Mr. Benko’s track record speaks for it self as his team was responsible for acquiring Telefonica, Belgacom, PT Luxembourg, Hungarian Telecom (T-Com), and other Tier1 operators as Corinex customers. His team also secured Siemens, Sonepar, Rexel, Enel S.A, Teleste, and other large customers for Corinex Europe.

Mr. Benko holds an honors degree in International Trade from Monash University in Melbourne

Sam Shi

Chief Technology Officer

As CTO, Mr. Shi is responsible for helping drive the company's technological innovations and strategy, and has pioneered power line communication for nearly a decade, contributing to several US patents. Mr. Shi is head of R&D and is responsible for technology and architecture for Corinex products. One of his achievements was so far the largest deployment on BPL technology in access in industry in Center Point Energy and first FFC part 15 certification of BPL product in the industry.

Prior to joining Corinex, Mr. Shi worked in various senior development capacities in the telecom industry for companies including Telos and UT Starcom. Mr. Shi holds a degree in Computer Science and Business from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.

Sam Morovati

Vice President, Strategic Sales

Sam Morovati brings over 15 years of sales and marketing experience in the networking industry including managing regional and international sales teams. Mr. Morovati has been managing sales in BPL equipment over the past decade for three product generations and is responsible for Corinex’s aggressive triple digit growth since 2005. Prior to Corinex, Sam built D-Link’s distribution and retail channels in EMEA propelling them into the leading market share.

Sam has developed strong partnerships with major international system integrators and other strategic customers in the Telecom, Government, Utility, and Hospitality industries. Sam played an instrumental role in establishment of Corinex distribution channel around the world.

Sam holds a B.Sc degree in Electric and Electronics Engineering and an MBA on Management of Technology from Simon Fraser University.

Isabella Peng

Vice President Finance

Ms. Peng has worked in several global locations including Shenzhen and Beijing of China. Following four years in public practice with Deloitte and Grand Thornton, Ms. Peng managed accounting for a multinational real estate firm with operations in four countries.

Later Ms. Peng joined D&B, a global firm and specialized in financial risk management. Prior to joining Corinex, Ms. Peng was an officer in a high technology company.

Ms. Peng has a Bachelor degree in Accounting and holds a FCCA (senior ACCA) membership and also is a CGA in BC.
