VANCOUVER – A strong contingent of 10 companies from British Columbia are participating at this year’s CommunicAsia, the largest annual information and communications technology (ICT) trade show in Asia, announced Iain Black, Minister of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development. “British Columbia has long been a pioneer in the development of wireless, digital and telecommunications technology and our companies can compete against any in the world,” said Black. “Given the worldwide growth and demand for information and communications technology, it’s important that B.C.-based companies are active overseas, promoting their products and services.” Six of the companies – ACL Services Ltd., Corinex Communications Corp., Faronics, Posh, Star Solutions, and Tranzeo Wireless – will be housed in the British Columbia section of the Canadian pavilion. “As a rapidly growing technology company from British Columbia, we are proud to participate in CommunicAsia 2010 under the B.C. banner,” said Sam Morovati, vice-president of strategic sales of Corinex Communications, a company that specializes in developing high-speed IP communications systems. “Corinex’s unique product line allows developing countries to use their existing infrastructure to provide cost-effective, high-speed broadband to the mass market. As the result, our exports to the Asia Pacific region are growing every month, which makes CommunicAsia an important event for us.” “Participating in CommunicAsia enables Star Solutions to promote our innovative wireless solutions to ICT organizations in Asia,” said Myles Lu, director of marketing for Star Solutions, a supplier of network products that deliver voice and broadband data services to CDMA2000 and GSM/GPRS mobile users. “We are pleased to represent the B.C. technology industry and look forward to new opportunities to expand our business.” The four other B.C.-based companies – Vecima, Norsat International Inc., Porta One and HyperWallet – will be exhibiting separately. Being held in Singapore June 15-18, this is the third year in a row where the Province of British Columbia is assisting B.C.-based companies. In addition to being a commercial trade show, CommunicAsia highlights technological innovation in information and communications technology and is a popular venue for product launches and announcements. The six B.C. companies housed in Canadian pavilion have been recruited by the provincial government’s Asia Pacific, Trade and Investment Division. The division also operates the Asia Pacific Business Centre at Robson Square, helping companies and exporters connect to overseas opportunities.
