Belgacom chooses Corinex for IPTV | Print |  E-mail

Brussels, Belgium (Oct. 16, 2006) – Belgacom is again innovating in order to respond more effectively to the specific needs of its Belgacom TV customers. A new technical solution is now available for connecting Belgacom TV to any place in the home without the need for new cables.

Launched in June 2005, Belgacom TV is constantly evolving, in both content and technology. The latest change concerns the connection within the home where a new innovative solutions is now available that allows customers to connect the ADSL modem to the TV without having to drill any holes in the walls or lay new cables.

The cutting edge of technology

After many lab and field tests, Belgacom has chosen a Powerline communications (PLC) solution based on technology developed by Corinex Communications, the largest Powerline Company in the world.
The Corinex solution uses the indoor home electricity network as a medium for video and data transmission. This is achieved by connecting a Corinex AV200 Powerline Ethernet adapter to the ADSL modem, and a second AV200 Powerline device to the decoder connected to your TV. This system is protected from piracy and allows customers to connect multiple television sets (via multiple decoders) by simply adding other AV200 Powerline adapters. This innovative solution offers guaranteed connectivity without any interference, delivers flawless video, and allows a customer to change the location(s) of their TV without needing to add any new wiring. The AV200 Powerline solution works in any size and type of home.

Procedure

Customers who want to subscribe to Belgacom TV can now opt to install it themselves with purchased Ethernet cables, or call in a Belgacom installer to deploy the Corinex Powerline connectivity solution.
