The PoweRline Intelligent Metering Evolution (PRIME) Alliance is a mature, consolidated, and worldwide powerline communications (PLC) standard for Advanced Metering, Grid Control, and Asset Monitoring applications. There are over 20 million PRIME meters deployed in over 15 countries worldwide.
BPL products based on G.hn silicon are being standardized with Prime Alliance. Corinex is the technical leader in the development of the standardization. Members of PRIME Alliance include: E.ON, Iberdrola, CEZ, Intel, ST, Renesas, IBM, etc.
The G3-PLC Alliance was formed in order to support, promote and implement powerline communications (PLC) in smart grid applications. Its members come from the key stakeholders in the smart grid ecosystem, including utility companies, equipment and semiconductor manufacturers, system integrators, IT vendors and automotive companies.
Corinex, with its expertise in transforming electric grids into advanced smart-energy networks, will enhance the Alliance's goals. Our proficiency in Broadband Powerline Communication (BPL) solutions is crucial for improved grid management and load balancing. These vertically integrated solutions will boost communication efficiency, reliability, and security within existing powerline infrastructures. Corinex's participation in the Alliance will facilitate seamless data flow and IoT management across various grid-connected devices, improving interoperability and operational functionality.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations' specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs. Founded in 1865, it allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and improves access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.
Corinex is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the standardized ITU G.hn silicon to further enhance its solutions to empower the smart grid. ITU Standardization goal is to reuse the same silicon, while moving from the small-scale “home network” to the large-scale “utility network”.
The National Electricity Roundtable (NER) was formed in 1994 to integrate the interests, perspectives and expertise of all parts of the Canadian electric power industry and develop national and international policy positions that reflect the interests of the industry as a whole.
Corinex is the former chair of the Canadian Electricity Roundtable. The NER is currently chaired by Neetika Sathe of Alectra and is managed by Bryan Simonson, President of NER, who works under the policy direction of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is also composed of senior-level representatives from Siemens, HMI Construction, OPG, Enmax, Fortis BC, and Schneider Electric.
