Metering Days 2026, taking place November 17–18, 2026 in Fulda, Germany, is one of the most important gatherings for the German and European smart metering ecosystem. The annual congress brings together utilities, metering point operators, technology providers, regulators, and industry experts to discuss the next phase of digitalizing the energy system.
Following record participation in 2025—with more than 1,200 attendees, 78 speakers, and 85 companies represented in the exhibition—the event continues to serve as a central platform for dialogue across the metering industry. In 2026, discussions will focus on accelerating the rollout of smart meter gateways (SMGW), addressing operational challenges, and strengthening the foundations for a secure and digitally connected energy infrastructure.
As Germany moves beyond the 20% rollout milestone, the industry’s attention is increasingly shifting toward scaling deployment, improving interoperability, and enabling new digital services within the energy system. Particular emphasis will be placed on the growing importance of secure communication infrastructure and intelligent control capabilities within the low-voltage network, which are critical to supporting the integration of distributed energy resources and low-carbon technologies.
The program will also explore regulatory developments, operational responsibilities in metering point management, and opportunities for collaboration between municipal utilities and service providers. Representatives from key institutions such as Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, Bundesnetzagentur, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action are expected to participate, contributing valuable regulatory and policy perspectives.
With a fully booked exhibition featuring over 80 companies across the metering ecosystem, Metering Days 2026 will once again provide a unique opportunity for industry professionals to exchange insights, discuss practical deployment experiences, and explore the technologies shaping the future of digital energy infrastructure.
We look forward to connecting with you at Metering Days 2026.
